Buying Air M2 - is 16GB RAM really needed for long-term use?
Jan 20, 2023 · 16GB is a must if you want long term in the sense of 5 to 6 years from now. Even then, who knows if 16GB will suffice in the year 2029. The recent Macbook Pro that was announced can have up to 96GB of RAM.

The screen, sound and extra ports makes the pro the better choice for me. The m3 pro chip vs the m3 chip is better performance than the 24gb ram is compared to 18gb ram so I would go with the 18gb m3 pro MacBook Pro. I would not get a base mbp which is an air with a fan. I would get the mbp with pro chip.

Feb 14, 2023 · With the M2, get the 16gb RAM and/or 512gb SSD if you can. The 256gb ssd has slower speeds than M1 256 = slower swap RAM performance. I’m using a base M1 Air and it’s never swapped memory because I don’t open much apps at the same time. The M2 is better than the M1, if you get the correct config. Reply reply.
