The Detroit Tigers leaned into selecting late-rising prospects as part of their haul in Day 1 of the 2025 MLB Draft on Sunday. The Tigers began the night picking shortstop Jordan Yost with the No. 24 pick, followed by catcher Michael Oliveto 34th overall, righty Malachi Witherspoon in the second round and lefty Ben Jacobs in the third round.

Oklahoma pitcher Kyson Witherspoon led the field after the Boston Red Sox took him with the No. 15 pick in the draft.

Here is a look at the remainder of the Royals' Day 1 picks: The Royals added a high-upside college arm in the second round. Lombardi posted a 2.14 ERA in 23 games as a top reliever for the Tulane Green Wave. Additionally, he recorded 73 strikeouts in 42 innings pitched.
