Over a week since an inundated Guadalupe River sent floodwaters tearing through homes and youth camps in Texas, optimism for rescuing any of the dozens of people still missing from Hill Country on July 12 has steadily faded as the death toll continued to rise.

A small group of North Carolina volunteers with five mules and one horse is helping transport supplies in the ongoing search and recovery operation in Texas.

In Kerr County, Thad Heartfield is leading nearly 100 volunteers searching for flood victims. For him, this mission is personal. His son and three of his son's friends disappeared in the flood.

Search efforts, volunteering, and mourning continues in Kerr County as over about 160 are still known to be missing. FOX New's Olivianna Calmes shows a live look at the damage and spoke to people around the area.
