The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating a multi-state outbreak of salmonella infections linked to frozen sprouted beans, in collaboration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and public health officials in several states.

Salmonella can cause diarrhea, fever, vomiting, stomach cramps, and dehydration. Most people recover within a week, but serious illness can occur, especially in young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems, according to the CDC.

A salmonella outbreak linked to Deep brand frozen sprouted beans has sickened 11 people in 10 states, prompting a nationwide recall.
