The U.S. has again halted livestock imports from Mexico after the parasitic New World screwworm fly closer to the border.  Earlier this week, Mexico's national agriculture department reported a new case of New World Screwworm in Veracruz state,

Secretary Rollins takes decisive action and shuts down U.S. Southern border ports to livestock trade due to further northward spread of New World screwworm in Mexico.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Thursday that the U.S. decision to halt cattle imports from Mexico again over the flesh-eating screwworm pest was "exaggerated."
