Apple TV+ has greenlighted 'Cape Fear', a TV series starring and exec produced by Javier Bardem and EP-ed by Martin Scorsese & Steven Spielberg.

Nick Antosca, who created the true crime dramas 'A Friend of the Family' and 'The Act,' is writing and will showrun the series that is based on the iconic 1962 and 1991 movies.

Apple TV+ has ordered "Cape Fear" based on the novel "The Executioners," which inspired the feature of the same name with Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum in 1962.

As per 'Variety', the series is based on both the John D. MacDonald novel 'The Executioners', which inspired Gregory Peck's 1962 Universal Pictures feature 'Cape Fear', as well as the acclaimed 1991 remake directed by Scorsese and produced by Spielberg, with Robert De Niro and Nick Nolte in the lead roles.

Oscar winner Javier Bardem will star in the Apple TV+ series Cape Fear, which will be expanded from a film to a 10-episode series. Martin Scorsese, who directed the 1991 version, will be an executive producer alongside Bardem and Steven Spielberg.
